What's It Take?

What does it take to get some rain? In California, drought conditions persist. The news programs show rain and flooding in some areas of the country. Around here, there has been no appreciable rain since February. We have a few manditory water restrictions, and many more voluntary ones. The yard is dry, the lawns long dead. Certain areas of the yard, the soil is developing large cracks due to being so dry. We're still another month from the beginning of the "rain year", that is when they reset the rain amount to zero and start counting all over. The main rains don't usually come until later in the year. Hopefully they'll come early this year.

Ridin' Gustav

I have been following an interesting blog, Ridin' Gustav. He hasn't posted since yesterday morning, however he did put a twitter message up that he was ok but had no cable. It will be interesting to read his thought & see the pictures he's taken once he is able to get back online.

Hey Buddy, Can You Spare An Ark?

Here in the San Francisco Bay Area, we've been getting slammed for the past few days. Plenty of rain, which has been needed. We don't need it all at once! LOL PG&E has been dealing with power outages all over the area. On the rasio today they claimed they were having to replace over 500 miles of power lines destroyed by the storm. Naturally, there are those who complain that their power wasn't restored quick enough. Even though I'm no fan of PG&E, their storm response is nothing short of amazing, in my opinion. From a peak on Friday where 984,000 were reported to be without power, they were down to 10,000 this morning. That's good work and for that they should be applauded.
