Super Week Is Here

For many, the most important time of the year is here. This special week will culminate Sunday with the playing of Super Bowl XLI. I am not among those who consider this a special time. I am a casual fan, and I will watch the game, especially the commercials. :-) Many will host a party this weekend that they began planning last year, the day after Super Bowl XL. Can anyone tell me who won that game? Answer below.

This week will feature hype and more hype, with hype about the hype, all of which will serve to remind that we are approaching Super Sunday. Before the week is out, one or more players will be caught out in Miami after curfew taking in the Miami nightlife. Stories will be written about it, the chastened player will apologize to his teammates and the hordes of reporters will go after the next story. Much will be written about the fact that the head coaches of the 2 teams are African-American and they are the first 2 African-American head coaches to take a team to the Super Bowl. Much will be written about Peyton Manning and Rex Grossman. And much will be written about Miami, the economic benefit of hosting the game, complaints by interest groups about the money spent at the game, ad nauseum. By the time Sunday rolls around, the game itself will be an afterthought.

Now that I have properly prepared you for Super Sunday, enjoy!

Neat Homemade Survival Lantern

Dave Markowitz, famous for his "Blog-O-Stuff", has a separate blog about Survival and Emergency Preparedness. A recent post on that blog had instructions for a Do-It-Yourself Soda Can Lantern. With all the nasty weather and such going on, I felt this is some knowledge worth having and sharing. Rather than repeat it, use the link to go get the directions. :-)
